Death of the duke of Berry, 14 February 1820, lot of four medals showing the duke of Berry in uniform in profile to the left: one by Gayrard in bronze, reverse signed by Puymaurin with Latin legend within a palm and cypress wreath, 41 mm; one after Gayrard in cast pewter, on the reverse "IL EST MORT FRAPPÉ D'UN COUP DE POIGNARD LE 14 FEBRUARY 1820 LE BON ET INFORTUNÉ PRINCE DONT LA FRANCE PLEURE LA FUNESTE DESTINÉE", bélière, 40.5 mm ; two small ones by Depaulis, one in silver, one in patinated bronze, on the reverse a veiled urn on an altar "LA FRANCE LE PLEURE - XIV FÉVRIER MDCCCXX", made portable by a hoop and ring, one of blued steel, the other of gilt bronze, 15 mm.
