Circular box in ivory and pompom, the lid... - Lot 100 - Pescheteau-Badin
Circular box in ivory and pompom, the lid decorated in the center with a pansy on a guilloché background. 19th century Height 1.7 cm - Diam. 6 cm Weight : 26 g Missing This circular box is made from the ivory of today's Proboscideans, and more specifically Elephantidae. Indeed, Elephantidae ivory recognition parameters are clearly visible in the form of guilloche marks typical of this family. The original appearance of the raw ivory material has been modified by polishing. A beautiful antique patina characterizes this ivory. Some of the box's internal inlays reveal the parameters used to identify the horn of a domestic Bovidae species known as the Domestic Cow (Bos taurus domesticus). An artificial coloring imitating tortoiseshell has been applied to the horn parts and fragments. Accompanied by a CITES certificate: Number FR2409200182-K
