Alexandre DUMAS. The Three Musketeers... Paris, Calmann-Lévy, 1894. 2 volumes in-4, chestnut morocco, three gilded fillets in frame, 5-nerved spines decorated with repeated gilded fillets and lilies, framed in the same morocco with gilded fillets and lilies at the corners, brocaded silk lining and endpapers with large floral motifs in multiple colors, double endpapers, gilded edges on witnesses, cover (Marius Michel). Very probably the finest illustrated edition of Les Trois mousquetaires, preceded by a letter from Alexandre Dumas fils, and illustrated with 250 black compositions by Maurice Leloir, wood-engraved by Huyot, including the cover, a portrait-frontispice, 2 title vignettes and 246 in the text. One of 150 copies on Chine (no. 105), the only large paper with a copy on Japon, here one of 100 with a suite. A very fine copy from Henri Beraldi, with his gilded bookplate at the foot of the flyleaf.
