In-4, plum morocco, first plate decorated with a geometrical design composed of 8 double horizontal bold fillets with the title in gilded lettering surrounded by multiple squares with gilded fillets and a central mosaic of ruby morocco imitating cabochons, smooth spine and second plate with repeat of the design, burgundy suede lining and endpapers, double endpapers, gilded edges on witnesses, cover and spine, case (G. Cretté). Monod, II-9880 /// (3f.)-64-(1f.)-65 to 96-(1f.)-97 to 136-(3f.). The beautiful tale of Tristan and Isolde renewed by Joseph Bédier, with 130 color illustrations by Robert Engels, including 4 hors-texte, the cover and 125 in the text, and numerous two-color ornamental motifs. Edition of 300 copies, this one of 230 on vélin des Vosges (no. 117) with a very fine original charcoal drawing, signed with Robert Engels' monogram. A fine copy, despite the faded spine.
