# FRENCH SCHOOLS of the 19th century: Views of the apse of Notre Dame de Paris and the entrance to the Tuileries. Two paintings fixed under glass on a tinsel background. In gilded brass frames decorated with hoops and stars. H. 5 cm - W. 8.4 cm Wear and tear. The Palais des Tuileries was completely destroyed by arson under the Commune in May 1871. The flames ravaged the building for three days and threatened the buildings of the Louvre. The Archbishop's Bridge crosses the Seine to reach the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris from the left bank. This bridge, the narrowest in Paris, was built in 1828 by the Pont des Invalides company.
