Palms of officer of the Academies embroidered... - Lot 119 - Beaussant Lefèvre & Associés
Palms of officer of the Academies embroidered in green and white silk on black ribbon. 130 x 33 mm France, first half of the 19th century. The university was organized under the Empire by a decree of 17 March 1808. This decree provided for three different grades, embroidered with palms: white and blue silk for the officers of the Academies, silver for the officers of the University and gold for the holders (Grand Master of the University, Chancellor, Treasurer, Councillors). Maintained and transformed throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, these insignia are the origin of the order of Academic Palms founded in 1955. TTB
