ROUEN Earthenware peg with polychrome decoration of a woman's head in profile in a medallion surrounded by a garland of foliage and flowers in a foliage scroll, orange and blue net on the edges; under the handle the monogram MAB of Masséot Abaquesne. Workshop of Masséot Abaquesne. 16th century, circa 1550. H. 25 cm. Restoration to the handle and chip on the foot extended by a crack. Former Tumin collection, sale Paris, Me Etienne Ader, June 11, 1936, n° 72. Former collection of Dr. Chompret. Label Dr. Chompret on the reverse. Has appeared at the exhibition Trésors de la faïence de Rouen in Rouen in 1952, n° 16. Appears in the exhibition Faïence française at the Grand Palais in 1980, n° 276, p. 199.
