Jehan RICTUS ...The popular heart... Paris, Rey, 1914. In-8, black half-chagrin with stripes, spine with 4 nerves decorated, gilt head, cover and spine (Binding of the time). Lh., 517 /// 222-(1f.). First edition of the last great collection of poems by Rictus. One of the 125 first copies on Japon Impérial (n° 30), these containing a beautiful etched portrait by Steinlen and 5 leaves reproducing 3 letters by Mallarmé and Samain. Gabriel Randon, known as Jean Rictus, was forced to do all sorts of jobs to make a living before meeting Albert Samain, a paper-pusher like himself at the Paris City Hall, who encouraged him to publish poems. His literary career began in 1892 with his collaboration to various magazines and ended in 1914, with Le Coeur populaire, his last collection of poems. Binding a little rubbed and foxing to the facsimiles.
