Sinceny Earthenware plate decorated in blue monochrome after an engraving by Salvator Rosa of a woman holding a child in her arms in a landscape on a city background, flowering branches on the wing. Marked: S in manganese. 18th century. D. 22,5 cm. Provenance : Sale Paris hotel Drouot master Paul Renaud on December 6, 1983, number 10. Monmélien Collection. Has appeared at the exhibition of French earthenware at the Grand Palais 1980. Has appeared at the exhibition of Saint Omer 1990 N°35 Has appeared at the exhibition of Laon 2006 Plate No. 10 Our plate is part of a series of eleven plates including the ten blue plates belonging to Mr. Moreau who appeared under number 5196 at the exhibition of 1865 at the Palais de l'industrie. These plates are mostly based on figures engraved by Salvator Rosa between 1656 and 1657. These plates can be found in several collections in the 19th and 20th centuries such as Calvet, Chompret, Papillon, Perrot Pescheteau. One plate is in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, another in the Victorian and Albert Museum in London, one in the Musée de Sèvres, another in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
