MEISSEN Porcelain statuette representing a charlatan of the series of the Cries of dressed in orange pants and vest and a yellow cape held by a chain, a sword on his side a sword on his side and wearing a black hat, accompanied by a monkey with a monkey, an open box containing flasks between his legs and an open book, on a open book, on a terrace with rocaille ornaments in light relief underlined of gold. Marked: crossed swords in blue. Model by Peter Reinicke. 18th century, circa 1760. H. 15.7 cm. Missing the right hand and chips. This statuette is modeled after an engraving "Mounta Banck, Le Charlatan, Il charlatano" by Pierce Tempest after Marcellus Laroon the Elder, from the series "Cryes of the City of London" published in 1688. A similar model is illustrated by Hans Sys, Catalogue of the Hans Sys Collection, 1979, no. 294. March 28
