MEISSEN Porcelain teapot in the shape of a seated monkey holding a small one between its arms forming a spout, the handle formed of another small on its back, carrying a covered fruit, with polychrome decoration. Marked: crossed swords in blue. Model of Johann Joachim Kaendler. 18th century, circa 1735. H. 20 cm. Chips on the ribbon knot, the lid redone in soft porcelain. Kaendler's work in July 1735 mentions: a teapot in the shape of a monkey, with a baby on its back and another held in its arms in front, from which tea is poured. another held in its arms in front, from which the tea is poured.
