Baptiste PLATINE DE CRÉMÔNE. In-8, overlapping vellum, edges gilt on marble (contemporary binding). Brunet, IV-693 /// (18f.)-466f. (marked CCCCXLX with fancy pagination). 3rd edition of this translation from Latin, whose translator remains anonymous. The first was published in 1519 by Galliot Du Pré. It was followed in 1544 by a second edition, in-8 format, published by François Regnault for Jehan Real, then by this third edition by the same publishers. It is decorated with lettering and small woodcuts engraved in the text. Barthélémi de Sacchi, better known as Platina, was born in 1421 in Piadena, near Cremona. He was appointed librarian of the Vatican in 1475, a post he held until his death in 1481. Rebacked in a contemporary binding, probably his own, with renewed endpapers, title stained, library stamp Sociedad hebraica argentina.
