Naples Two porcelain plates from the a fascia... - Lot 272 - Pescheteau-Badin
Naples Two porcelain plates from the a fascia viola service with polychrome decoration of peacock and heron on one and a stag on the other, the wing decorated with a braid on a mauve background, gold stars in five medallions. E Early 19th century, circa 1800 - 1807 D. 24 cm. Wear, two small chips on one and stains. These plates belong to a service mentioned in 1807 in the inventory drawn up at the time of the transfer of the Royal Manufactory of Naples to the Poulard-Prad company and described con animali e fascia lillà. Angela Carola Perrotti points out in her book on Naples porcelain that this was the last large service produced by the Royal Manufactory for King Ferdinand IV's table, and was destined for the Portici Palace for hunting returns. It was used by Joseph Bonaparte in Caserta and then completed by the Poulard-Prad factory. On the return of Ferdinand IV, the service was transferred to its original destination, the Royal Palace of Portici. At the time, it comprised 640 pieces. Today, 91 pieces are kept at the Capodimonte Museum (A. Carola-Perrotti, La Porcellane Napoletane dell' Ottocento, 1990, no. 86).
