GERMANY Pewter devotional plate, octagonal shape with slightly curved sides, entirely engraved with a engraved with a scene animated with many characters, titled GENESIS XLI. This scene scene from the book of Genesis represents Joseph explaining his dream to the Pharaoh, in an inscription in four lines in capital letters. At the base of the central column, the initials HR, and the date 1595 hidden among the bags of wheat. Marked on the reverse: 1) a city gate with two crowned towers, 2) a bottle called "glockenkanne / N or H R, not identified. Each of these punches struck twice. Southern Germany, late 16th century, circa 1595. H. 26,5 cm These plates are of great rarity, the engraving of this one is of exceptional quality.
