First edition illustrated with 20 original drypoints and 131 color woodcuts in the text, by Louis Jou. Beginnings and ends of lines are embellished with small penguins printed in sepia. The 20 drypoints are not all hors texte, 6 of them occupying pages 49, 107, 151, 223, 289 and 359. Edition of 535 copies, this one of 10 on old Japon (no. 10), containing 3 additional states of the drypoints: first state, intermediate state and state of the crossed-out copperplates, a complete suite of woodcuts on Japon, 2 original unsigned watercolors and one crossed-out copperplate. Enriched copy of the prospectus. A fine copy despite a small hole in the back cover. The slipcase is missing.
