Small in-8, dark green morocco, spine ribbed, cloisonné and fleuronné with garnet title-piece in French, boards decorated with a double framing of gilt fillets and motifs with fleurons at the corners of the inner framing, filleted edges, gilt edges (Dutch binding of the period). (2 of which the second is blank)-125-(3 blank) pp. with title printed in red and black, Dutch text with French version opposite; a few handwritten notes in the text. DUTCH AND FRENCH TRANSLATIONS, published one year after the rare original Hague edition. THE "CODE DU BOIS", A REVISED VERSION OF JAMES ANDERSON'S CONSTITUTIONS. EXEMPLAIRE ENRICHED IN THE EPOQUE WITH A MANUSCRIT, INTITULE "LOIX PARTICULIERES DE LA LOGE LA VERTU" (approx. 21 pp. small in-8, by two separate hands). Three sub-sections are entitled "Loix concernant la Loge de table", "Règlements" and "Instruction pour les frères servants". A few additions by the same hand, including one dated 1779. La Vertu Lodge is probably the one of this name founded in Leiden in 1757, and which was initially French-speaking. Provenance: collections of the Grand Orient of the Netherlands (ex-libris stamp on the front of one of the upper endpapers).
