LODGE L'AMITIE DE STRASBOURG. - 2 MANUSCRITS, 1773 and 1776, each in-folio bound in Bradel-style cardboard, one blue, the other black, each with triangular handwritten title page on paper, red wax seal and inked seal of the Lodge on several pages (period bindings). 1 : (15) ff. in several hands, partly paginated; binding a little rubbed. - 2: (87) ff. from several hands, with erroneous pagination. - Binding a little rubbed. 1. "REGISTRE D'ARCHITECTURE DE LA L∴ DE L'AMITIE POUR LE G[RA]DE DE LA MAITRISE SEULEMENT". January 21, 1773-March 16, 1776. These registers collect the following texts: LES "STATUTS ET REGLEMENS DE LA MAÇONNERIE pour la T∴ R∴ L∴ de St-Jean sous le titre distinctif de L'Amitié à l'Orient de Strasbourg". Adopted in an outfit open to all ranks, they were SIGNED BY SIXTY MEMBERS OF THE LODGE including the venerable Jean-Pierre de Chaumont. THE MINUTES of the Lodge's work (first for the outfits intended for Apprentices and Companions, then for those reserved for Masters), i.e. the various requests, decisions, receptions, etc., with lists of the names of distinguished visitors, both French and foreign. Mention is made of the Prince de Ligne and Nicolas Bergasse. These minutes are SIGNED BY LODGE OFFICERS, including the Venerable Jean-Pierre de Chaumont, then Jean-Frédéric Moseder, and the Secretary and future Venerable Marc de Goursac. Founded in 1764, L'Amitié Lodge would be absorbed in 1777 by La Candeur Lodge in Strasbourg. Provenance: Jesuit establishment in Belfort (bookplate stamp).
