TILER. - MANUSCRIT. Late eighteenth century. Marbled brown basane, smooth spine cloisonné and fleuronné, roulette on the edges and inside framing, marbled edges (period binding). 70 ff. in-18. Concerning 4 high grades, in four parts entitled: "Order and Reception of the Sovereign Ch[evalie]rs Princes of Eridon of the Rosicrucians" (ff. 1 r°-31 v°), "Royal Arch" (ff. 32 r°-39 v°), "Reception of the Knights of the East" (ff. 45 r°-61 r°), "The Noachite or Prussian Ch[evalie]r" (ff. 61 v°-70 v°). A final section, by another hand, entitled "Grade et réception des ch[evali]ers du St-Sépulcre" (ff. 40 r°-44 r°), concerns a Masonic grade that has not always been recognized, and which appeared in the 18th century in the rites of Kissleben, the Royal-York Chapter and the Metropolitan Chapter. Having become an American high grade, it also developed in England, and was reintroduced in France in 1812. With a Masonic cryptographic alphabet on the front of the lower flyleaf.
