LODGE L'AMITIÉ DE STRASBOURG. - Signed by several members of the Lodge, including the Venerable Jules de CAPOL. Strasbourg, September 1776. One p. large oblong in-folio on parchment illustrated with a large composition woodcut by Pierre-François Isnard and drawn in sanguine, wax seals of the Lodge and of the Scottish Committee of the Lodge on paper set in metal supports attached to silk ribbons, one red, the other gray, inked seal of the Lodge. Some soiling, a few marginal creases. SCOTTISH DIPLOMA. Attestation that Baron de Wigan, Captain in the Anhalt Regiment (German infantry in the service of France), has participated in the work of the Lodge since this year 1776, and has received "the grades of Apprentice, Comp[agnon], Master, Petit Élu and Ill[ustre] and Écoss[ais]". All signatories, with the exception of the impetus, declare themselves Sovereign Knights Princes of the Rosicrucian Order: Marquis Marie-René de Heere, Keeper of the Seals and Master of Ceremonies, Charles-François Bourbier, First Warden, Baron Ernest-Albert-Henry de Mylius, Second Warden, Baron Louis-Auguste de La Queue, all military, René-Henry Gerhardi, advisor to the Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and the Prince's tutor, and others. Founded in 1764, this Lodge was absorbed in 1777 by another Strasbourg Lodge, La Candeur.
