Soft-paste porcelain cookie group representing the Three Contents after a Falconet model.
18th century, circa 1765-1770.
H. 24.5 cm, L. 28 cm.
Restoration to the woman's neck and one of the man's legs.
This group was created in cookie by Falconet at Sèvres in 1765 after Les Rivaux heureux ou les Caprices de l'Amour, a comedy by Taconet performed in 1763 at the Théâtre de Nicolet. The play was inspired by a fable by La Fontaine, Les Deux Amis. (Catalogue of the Falconet exhibition at Sèvres, 1757-1766, 2001, no. 108, p. 182)
