A large porcelain jardinière called a hexagonal jardinière, the handles in the shape of a cornucopia supported by a bisque amour, decorated in bas-relief in bisque with masks surrounded by foliage on a blue background, the base decorated with bisque dolphins on a background of imbricated scales, the rims decorated with a red and gold and green and gold checkerboard pattern.
Marked: LP entrelacés, Sèvres 1844.
Louis-Philippe period, 1844.
L. 53 cm, H. 27 cm.
Some restorations.
A hexagonal jardinière decorated in the style of the 16th century, with an agate blue background in grand feu, portraits of horticulturists and imitations of Limousin enamels by Hyacinthe Régnier entered the Sèvres factory's sales outlet on May 28, 1844. It was delivered to the French Embassy in London in June 1852 (Vbb11 f° 272). Curiously, this jardinière does not appear in the register of entries to the sales outlet.
