History: study of the motif of the three female figures adorning the upper part of the bas-relief of "La Légende de la Mer", also known as "Allégorie à la gloire des Arts et des Muses", designed by Janniot for the esplanade of the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris for the 1937 Exposition des Arts et Techniques.
