Alfred-Auguste JANNIOT (1889 - 1969) - Lot 63
Alfred-Auguste JANNIOT (1889 - 1969)
"Tête de nymphe", model created circa 1919-1924. Proof in patinated white stone, engraved and enhanced with polychromy (chip on reverse, wear to polychromy).
Signed A. Janniot.
Height: 36 cm
History: our model can be compared with the head of the nymph on the right of the sculpted group entitled "Hommage à Jean Goujon" or "Printemps" (Musée Calouste-Gulbenkian, n°inv. 2333), which was presented by Janniot in front of the entrance to the Pavillon du Collectionneur at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs & Industriels Modernes in Paris in 1925.
A similar model with fewer traces of polychromy is in the collections of the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris (n°inv. AMVP 3254).
