Alfred-Auguste JANNIOT (1889 - 1969) "Tête idéale", also known as "La Sicilienne", model created circa 1924. Proof in pinkish-beige marble (restorations, small chips). Signed A. Janniot. Height: 37 cm History: probably created at the end of Janniot's stay at Villa Medici from the portrait of a young Sicilian woman, a marble version of this head was presented in the grand salon of the Pavillon du Collectionneur at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris in 1925. A similar model in limestone is in the collections of the Smithsonian Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington (no. 79.8), and another in gilded patinated plaster is in the collections of the Musée des Années 30, Boulogne-Billancourt (no. 2003.7.1).
