Gustave VIOLET (1873 - 1952) - Lot 91
Gustave VIOLET (1873 - 1952) "The Harvester" or "El Segador", model created circa 1930. Bas-relief in patinated plaster set in a varnished wooden base with quadrangular body (small chips to bas-relief and cracks to base). Signed G. Violet in the decoration and exhibition label "Perpignan au temps des Bausil" dated 2006 on the reverse of the frame. Height: 26 cm (total) - Length: 23.5 cm - Depth: 7.5 cm History: This may be a study or a variant by Gustave Violet for the panel depicting two harvesters on the stele of the Céret Canal Monument, inaugurated in 1937. Model exhibited in Perpignan (1930, 1972 and 2006) and Prades (2014).
