Important set of photographs on Indochina, Cambodia, Vietnam, Tonkin, France and miscellaneous. Circa 1910-1940 - A photographic album titled "Service de la Sûreté au Tonkin", consisting of 25 silver prints laminated on cardboard and captioned. Subjects include "Direction du Service de la Sûreté du Tonkin", "Ecole de Police", "Police Municipale de Hanoi", "Section d'Identité" and "Section Centrale de Police Spéciale". Various states. Average visual size with margins approx. 23 x 17 cm. Album format approx. 39 x 29 x 2 cm. This work bears a dedication dated April 12, 1932 in Hanoi - Some twenty vintage silver prints. On several versos, handwritten annotations and/or stamp of the Service Cinéma des Armées. Examples: regattas, H. E. the Regent and the Superior Resident, Commander of the 'Magnolia', the Official Tribune during the Pirogue race, etc. Various states. Approximately 16.5 x 11.5 cm to 24 x 18 cm. - A dozen silver prints (mounted or not on card) of the Commemorative Ceremony at the Indochinese Pavilion (Bois de Vincennes, circa 1919-1920). Various states. Approximately 17 x 12 cm to 24 x 18 cm - Three large vintage silver prints mounted on cardboard, one of which is stamped "Nguyên-Than Clerc d'Avocat Vonhlong". Attached are books, documents (with or without photographs) including a large booklet entitled "Réception de Sa Majesté Khai-Dinh Empereur d'Annam à l'Hôtel de Ville 24 Juin 1922 (Paris, Imprimerie Nationale; composed of text and photographs), "La Princesse Ping Péang Yukanthor vous adresse, à l'occasion du Nouvel An Cambodgien, ses meilleurs souvenirs et souhaits de Bonheur (photographie)", "Le Couronnement de S. M. MONIVONG Roi du Cambodge (Alfred Meynard ; Phnom-Penh 20-25 Juillet 1928) or the "Lettre ouverte à son Excellence le Ministre des Colonies (...) PHAM-QUYNH". Albert Sarraut (1872-1962) was a famous French politician. Governor General of Indochina from 1911 to 1914, then from 1917 to 1919, Minister of Colonies from 1920 to 1924, then in 1932 and 1933, several times Minister of the Navy (1930, 1931, 1933 and 1934) and Minister of the Interior (1926-1928, 1934, 1936, 1938 to 1940), he briefly headed two governments of the Third Republic in 1933 and 1936. Deputy and then Senator for Aude from 1902 to 1945. He was deported by the Germans in 1944. After the war, still committed to colonial policy, he chaired the Assembly of the French Union from 1951 to 1958. Member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1953.
