Silver and vermeil GOBELET, the neck engraved with foliage, the base engraved with a frieze, Goldsmith: HF, Strasbourg, circa 1585-1600, (wear, minor knocks and scratches). Gross weight: 165.5 g Possibly an unrecorded hallmark of the silversmith Hans Franckeberger (active between 1585 and 1612). The hallmark presented in KUGEL, Vermeilleux! l'argent doré de Strasbourg du XVIe au XIXe siècle, shows certain similarities, notably in the spelling of the initials; however, the surrounding frame differs, suggesting a hitherto unrecorded hallmark.
