Charles BAUDELAIRE. Les Fleurs du mal. Extracts. (Paris, in - Lot 91
Charles BAUDELAIRE. Les Fleurs du mal. Extracts. (Paris, in La Revue des Deux Mondes, June 1855). Booklet in-8, black chagrin, smooth spine (slightly later binding).
Rare first publication of 18 poems from Les Fleurs du mal occupying pages 1079 to 1093 of La Revue des Deux Mondes.
This extract is accompanied, at the bottom of the first page, by a very cautious note in which the Revue des deux mondes justifies the publication of these poems by insisting on its innovative approach, which seeks to call on true talent to free itself, to strengthen itself, by broadening its paths, by extending its horizon. This note is attributed to Émile Montégut.
A very fine copy in a rare full binding.
