Ces CHINOIS de PARISIENS. Paris, Au Bureau du Journal, s.d. (circa 1840). In-4, Italian-style black half-basin, H.C. on front cover, first cover (Binding of the period). Leblanc, 69 / 56 plates. Suite of 56 plates containing from two to eight subjects, 222 woodcuts all taken from Le Journal pour rire between 1849 and 1850. These satirical and humorous drawings, with captions, are by Beaumont, Bouchet, Doré, Dumont, Emy, Forest, Janet, Monta, Morin, Tronsens, Vernier. 46 drawings are by Gustave Doré. Printed on blue paper. Binding rubbed and missing at spine.
