Benjamin CONSTANT. Adolphe. Anecdote found in the papers of - Lot 110
Benjamin CONSTANT. Adolphe. Anecdote found in the papers of an unknown man and published by Benjamin Constant. Paris, Treuttel et Würtz, London, Colburn, 1816. In-16, half blond basane, very nicely decorated smooth spine (period binding).
Clouzot, 70 / Vicaire, II-932 /// VII-228.
Paris edition published a few days after the original London edition, addressed London, Colburn, Paris, Tröttel et Wurtz, 1816.
Bibliographies usually list these two editions, with some doubt as to which came first, but it now appears that the London edition is the original.
Benjamin Constant had written his work in London, and it was published at the beginning of June. The edition we present is said to have been copied from the proofs of the English edition. It is no less sought-after, and fine copies are very rare. The present copy is a beauty, with a beautifully decorated spine.
Some rare spotting.
