Germaine de STAËL-HOLSTEIN. De l'Allemagne. Paris, Nicolle et Mame, 1814. 3 volumes in-8, blond half calf, decorated smooth spines (Binding of the period). Vicaire, VII-653 /// I. (2f.)-XVI-348 / II. (2f.)-387 / III. (2f.)-415. Second French edition. According to Quérard (France littéraire, t.X), the original edition, published in 1810 by Nicolle, was almost entirely seized and destroyed. Madame de Staël then published two new editions in 1814 (London and Geneva), before this one. Ex-libris Edmé Hermitte. Spine faded, small tear at head, a few freckles, angular wetness on a few leaves of volume III.
