Louis-Charles DESNOS (1725-1805), Paris Celestial globe in wood, cardboard, printed and painted paper, featuring constellations, inscribed on the upper part 'Ce globe riche de 14 constellations nouvelles observées en 1752 par M. l'Abbé de la Caille avec privilège du Roy 1758', all resting on a quadripod base in turned and blackened wood. Made in 1758. Diam. 39 cm. H. 47 cm. Wear, restorations. Louis-Charles Desnos made globes and astronomical instruments in his store at Le Globe, rue St-Jacques, Paris. He held the coveted position of 'geographer engineer for the globes and spheres of His Danish Majesty' with the King of Denmark, Christian VII.
