Sèvres Second size round porcelain fruit bowl with polychrome decoration in the center of a bird on a terrace in a medallion surrounded by gold pearls on a blue background braid, the wing decorated with floral and foliage scrolls between two blue background braids and rows of gold pearls. Marked : LL interlaced, letter-date PP for 1792, painter's mark Sophie Chanou. 18th century, 1792. D. 16.6 cm. Provenance: Jean-Baptiste Vandenyver, delivered November 29, 1792 Collection of Mrs Statter of Stand Hall, Christie's, London, July 13, 1897, lot 146 This compotier comes from a Sèvres dinner service sold to Jean-Baptiste Vandenyver on November 29, 1792, a Dutch banker based in Paris, rue Vivienne. (see D. Peters, 2015, vol. IV, n° 92-27). The service, whose decoration is mentioned under the terms Arabesques en fleurs zones bleu or service vandenyver, arabesques en fleurs, included 4 small compotiers. A large part of the service, including the four 2nd size round compotiers, was part of the collection of Mrs Statter of Stand Hall, sold by Christie's, London July 13, 1897, lot 146. A plate from this service, from the bequest of Baroness Salomon de Rothschild, is now in the Musée du Louvre. Part of the service is also in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg (Nina Birioukova, La Porcelaine de Sèvres du XVIIIe siècle, 2005, n° 1021-1029, pp. 209-213).
