Madame GENSOUL - DESFOND (circa 1769-1824) Double portrait in a landscape Reinforced walnut panel 61 x 43.2 cm. signed lower left Painter and sculptor Mme Gensoul-Desfonts studied in London with Carlini. She sent some of her works to the Paris Salon between 1791 and 1799, and married the artist Jean-Louis-Basile Gensoul, a pupil of Jean-Baptiste Regnault. After living in Paris, the artist settled in the village of Connaux , in the Gard region, where she died on October 1824.
