LIGHT CAVALRY SABRE, brass frame, German-style single-branch hilt with two ovals surrounding a square shuttle, short cap with melon ribs, curved quillon ending in a bar, grooved and squared wooden handle, curved blade with hollow sides, flat back and counter-edge, one-third blued and engraved with flowers, foliage and latticework surrounded by gold; Brass scabbard with two asymmetrical bracelets and iron sting. Late 18th century, Consulate period. Blade length: 84 cm. Total length (with scabbard): 100 cm. Wear, accidents to the scabbard, pitted blade.
