HEAVY CAVALRY SABRE MODEL 1784, known as the 'Arco', brass-m - Lot 126
HEAVY CAVALRY SABRE MODEL 1784, known as the 'Arco', brass-mounted, three-pronged guard with four fleurons and decorated with a lictor beam with Phrygian cap, short-tailed cap, basane-covered wooden handle with twisted filigree, punched single-edged blade with gutter, punched 'V' probably for the Versailles factory; leather scabbard with three brass fittings and two bélières. Late 18th century, Revolutionary period. Total length (with scabbard): 114 cm. Blade length: 96 cm. Wear, restorations, pitted blade, later strap and scabbard.
