Sèvres - Lot 234
Sèvres Soft-paste porcelain bottle bucket from the service of the Comte d'Artois with polychrome decoration of rose semis and in the upper part roses in two oval medallions surrounded by three gold fillets on a mosaic background of partridge-eye motifs in gold, blue-green and red. Marked: LL interlaced, letter-date X for 1775, gilder's mark Baudouin. 18th century, 1775. H. 19 cm, W. 24.5 cm. Gold wear on top edge. Provenance: This bottle bucket comes from the service delivered to Charles-Philippe, Comte d'Artois, on June 3, 1775. Another service in roze and mosaic was delivered nine days after that of the Comte d'Artois to the Marquis de Juigné, French ambassador to Russia. This service, largely preserved in the Pavlosk Palace, is in hard porcelain, while our bottle bucket is in soft porcelain.
