CHINA - WANLI period (1572 - 1620) Blue-white porcelain brushholder decorated with a man in front of a screen on the front surrounded by a phoenix, Shoulao riding his phoenix on the upper part. Three openings for brushes on the front. The back originally decorated with Kui Xing (now missing) in relief running on the waves under a full moon and constellation. (Accents, cracks, missing parts). H. 16 cm. Reference: Similar piece in the Musée Cernuschi, Paris, n°M.C. 3142, another in the Ashmolean Museum of Art, Oxford, n°EA1980.397
