Amsterdam, Marc-Michel Rey, et Paris, Gauguery, 1769. 2 parts in one volume in-12, marbled calf, smooth spine decorated with arms (Period binding). (4f.)-VI-236 / (2f.)-232-(1f.). Original French edition, translated from English by Joseph-Pierre Frénais, published just one year after the first edition. A copy bound in the period, with two alternating coats of arms on the spine: a crowned Lorraine mace and cross. Neither Olivier nor Guigard mentions the use of these two pieces together, but the crowned mace is one of the Rohan arms, notably used by Charles de Rohan-Soubise (see Olivier, pl. 2034, iron no. 9). Slight discoloration to second plate.
