Dubochet et Cie, 1836-1837. 2 volumes large in-8, red half-maroquin with long grain corners, spines with 5 nicely decorated bands, cover and spine (Mercier). Carteret, III-136 / Vicaire, II-155 /// I. (2f.)-744 / II. (2f.)-758. Translation and annotation by Louis Viardot with 800 woodcut vignettes in the text after Tony Johannot. 2 frontispieces drawn by the same artist and titles engraved by Andrew, Best and Leloir. First edition with the figure turned to the right on page 256 of Volume I. A very fine copy, free of foxing. Minor rubbing to hinges.
