Edition illustrated with a woodcut frontispiece and portrait by Godard, the frontispiece printed on Chine, and numerous woodcut vignettes in the text by Jean Gigoux.
Beautiful romantic binding despite faded spine.
Also included: FÉNELON. Les Aventures de Télémaque... Paris, Mallet, 1840. In-8, eggplant chagrin, large gilt fleuron on covers, smooth spine decorated with rocaille motifs, gilt edges (Boutigny). Vicaire, III-655 /// (2f.)-XVII-590-(1f.). Portrait-frontispiece and 12 plates on Chine monté, numerous illustrations in the text. Joints and covers rubbed and 2 corners dulled, foxing.
