SABRE D'OFFICIER DES ECLAIREURS DE LA GARDE IMPERIALE, silver-plated brass mounting, German-style single-branch guard decorated with a chased snake and centered on a bar engraved with a six-pointed star, curved quillon, short-tailed cap in melon ribbing adorned with acanthus leaves at the tip, the handle in blackened, grooved wood, the curved blade with a hollow front and flat back, blued and engraved on the first third with plants framed in gold, the scabbard with a wooden core sheathed in leather and adorned with three trimmings and reinforcing braces in silver-plated brass with two bélières, the whole finished with an asymmetrical sting.
First Empire period, probably 1st or 3rd Regiment des éclaireurs de la Garde, circa 1813-1815.
Blade length: 82 cm.
Total length (with scabbard): 99 cm.
Wear, wear to silvering, scabbard leather missing, silver cannetille strap.
