A monumental cabinet made of solid walnut, molded and carved, with a dynamic shape and flared sides, opening with four panels featuring contoured three-part paneling; the frame section is adorned with the coat of arms of the Proteau family of Libourne, decorated with stylized foliage scrolls, clasps, and flowers, the projecting cornice resting on rounded posts adorned with three-star cartouches resting on curved, volute-style legs joined by three leaf-decorated aprons with flower baskets, very fine metalwork in polished steel and varnished brass with openwork motifs, with a handwritten ink signature on the reverse of the apron indicating the location of a workshop in Libourne. Libourne, Louis XV period. H: 340 cm, D: 75 cm Damage and restorations, particularly to the cornice. Provenance: The Proteau family, in Libourne in the 18th century.
