PAIR OF desk candlesticks made of shagreen* mounted in 925 silver, resting on four legs with leaf-shaped finials, the square base adorned with silver laurel garlands, the shafts in the form of cylindrical columns, the silver candle holders with beaded borders, (scratches, chips) Silversmith: Samuel Jacob, London, 1908, Height: 12 cm. *Specimen made from the dermis of a stingray (galuchat) of the Dasyatidae family, of the species known as the "pointed-nose stingray"* or, synonymously, the "white-spotted whipray" (Maculabatis gerrardi) *Species not regulated under the Washington Convention (CITES), EC Regulation 338/97 of December 9, 1996, or the French Environmental Code.
